Sales growth in the US$127bn mobile handsets market continues, albeit at a lower rate, but is not expected to resume pre-downturn levels by 2011.

Competition has intensified throughout the handset value chain as players at every stage strive to increase value for their customer and ultimately to the end user. From production, marketing  and sales, to a greater emphasis on design capabilities, software and cost, there are a whole range of activities that require a different strategy to sustain growth.

Here David McQueen, Principle Analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media and co-author of the latest 11th edition of the Future Mobile Handsets research report, discusses some of the key questions facing the industry and the prospects for the industry to 2014.

Questions in this exclusive interview were posed by Mike Hibberd, Editorial Director at Mobile Communications International and Telecoms.com. You can watch the complete interview or select the key questions you are particularly interested in.
